Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 14, 2026
KidSync ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials through Firebase Authentication or Google Sign-In.
Family Data: Information you provide about your children (names, ages, avatars), events, tasks, routines, and emergency contacts. This data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore.
Calendar, Reminders & Google Calendar Data: KidSync offers optional sync with Apple Calendar, Apple Reminders, and Google Calendar. If you connect Apple Calendar or Reminders, we access your device's calendar and reminders data locally using Apple's EventKit framework. If you connect Google Calendar, we request access to view the list of calendars on your Google account so you can select which calendars to import, and to view and edit events on your selected calendars so we can import events into KidSync and optionally push KidSync events back to Google Calendar. In both cases, we only access calendars you explicitly select. Calendar data is stored in your KidSync family account in Firebase Firestore and is not shared with any third parties. You can disconnect either calendar source at any time from the app's Calendar Sync settings, which stops all future syncing.
In-App Messages: KidSync includes a messaging feature that allows family members to communicate about specific events and tasks. Messages you send are stored in Google Firebase Firestore as part of your family's data. Each message includes the sender's user ID, message text, and timestamp. Message read status (timestamps indicating when each family member last viewed a thread) is also stored to support unread indicators.
AI Interaction Data: When you use the AI suggestion feature, conflict details (event titles, times, locations, and child first names) are sent to Google Gemini API for processing. No other personal data is transmitted.
Subscription Data: When you subscribe to KidSync, payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details. We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to track subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat may receive transaction identifiers, subscription status, device identifiers, and purchase history from Apple. Your family's subscription status (e.g., trial, active, expired) is stored in our database to determine access to the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the KidSync app and its features
- To enable family schedule coordination and sharing between authorized users
- To generate caregiver briefings and share links
- To provide AI-powered conflict resolution suggestions
- To enable in-app messaging between family members on specific events and tasks
- To send push notifications for new messages, events, tasks, and morning briefings
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We use Firebase Security Rules to ensure users can only access their own family's data.
Shared briefing links are accessible only via unique, randomly generated link IDs and can be set to expire.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data may be shared only in the following cases:
- With your consent: When you share a caregiver briefing or share link, the recipient can view the information you chose to include.
- AI processing: Minimal conflict data is processed by Google Gemini API when you explicitly request AI suggestions. Google's data usage policies apply.
- Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights.
5. Third-Party Services
KidSync uses the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Hosting, Analytics)
- Google Sign-In (Optional authentication method)
- Google Calendar API (Optional calendar sync — reads calendar list and events, writes events back with your permission)
- Google Gemini AI (On-demand conflict suggestions via Firebase AI Logic)
- RevenueCat (Subscription management and purchase validation — Privacy Policy)
Each service has its own privacy policy governing data handling.
6. Children's Privacy
KidSync is designed for parents and caregivers to manage children's schedules. The app does not collect information directly from children. All child-related data (names, schedules) is entered and managed by authorized adult users.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and export your data
- Update or correct your information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Revoke calendar and reminders access at any time
8. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data (family, events, tasks, shared links) is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app or via email.
